Hopedale, Louisiana is the Redfish Capital of the World hands down. With endless miles of coastline, Bayou Charters can offer light tackle enthusiast and fly anglers the experience that they will never forget. With the abundance of large Redfish, Black Drum and Jack Crevalle it is easy to see why transplant guides from all over the world travel to the small fishing village of Hopedale in hopes of finding these record fish.
Don’t worry, Capt. Charlie Thomason has been fishing these waters all of his life, he is an avid fly angler and understands the patience and skill it takes to allow anglers the opportunity to catch fish commonly over 20 pounds. Just walk across the street from the Silver Side Lodge as your technical poling skiff awaits its departure to “The Giants!”
The greatest attribute that these fertile waters offer is that you can fish year round with great success. Huge fish lurking in clear water is where your quest will take you when fishing with Bayou Charters. Let Capt. Charlie pole you quietly through the vast marshes in search of record breaking fish by the hundreds. Average catches that you can expect are 5-15 fish but it is not uncommon to catch over 50 fish in a day!
Fly anglers this is your heaven. If you ever wanted to know what redfishing was like 200 years ago come and experience it. We will fish deep in the shallow estuaries of the Eastern Mississippi River Delta. Majority of the time the only boats you may see are the local shrimpers, crabbers or oyster harvesters working hard for their pay. Our redfish are the most aggressive in North America, refusals or follows do not happen here. If you get the fly close, the fish eats. Don't miss the opportunity to catch these monster reds in only inches of water.
Bayou Charters has guided avid anglers from across the world that have never experienced a fishery like that of our backyard. Come be one of the fortunate anglers to experience this untapped sight and fly fishing wonderland. |
